Chuya Ikeda sought to express a cultural gap through the creation of Lost in Translation Eternity. Composed of pins, paper and ink jet, her pieces is the result of a quest to search Google for translation of Rimbaud’s A Season In Hell, From French to English, English to Spanish and on into Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Arabic, Italian and German. Devising a picture code for the translations and securing these down with pins in the chronological order of her search. The final creation is a physical manifestation of the difficulties of articulating art across cultures.
