Quand l’eau jaillit tout à coup de la mer, on dit qu’un sorcier teste ses pouvoirs magiques. Ce phénomène est rare et il arrive qu’on n’y assiste qu’une fois dans sa vie. C’est un moment très particulier, comme lorsqu’on voit passer une soucoupe volante dans le ciel.
Dans cette oeuvre, les esprits jouent du tambour et dansent en rond tandis que le sorcier se déplace. Ils portent également des plantes de la brousse (Pui) venues de l’île de Badu. Au milieu de l’eau, le sorcier porte un masque en écaille de tortue (Karal) utilisé dans la cérémonie du Bywa.
Quand l’eau jaillit, le sorcier manifeste son pouvoir. Plus le jaillissement est haut, plus sa magie est puissante. La danse de Bywa Au Sagul est souvent exécutée sur l’île de Badu.
